Junior Skills Challenge National Event

NATIONAL EVENT OVERVIEW

The Future Links, driven by Acura Junior Skills Challenge National Event is comprised of participants that achieved the highest scores nationally at the Provincial Qualifiers, in four different age and gender categories. The National Event will take place on August 29-30, 2020 at the Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club in Vancouver, BC. For more information on how you can qualify, please click here.

ELIGIBILITY

On Monday, June 22, 2020 at 12pm ET, Golf Canada will select the top four (4) ranked players in each of the identified age categories, in both genders and invite them to compete in their respective Future Links Junior Skills Challenge Provincial Qualifiers. Each province will host a Provincial Qualifier between July 3, 2020 and July 20, 2020 and report scores to Golf Canada thereafter (click here for schedule and locations).

Following the Provincial Qualifiers, the top four competitors, in each age and gender category with the highest scores nationally will be invited to compete in the 2020 Future Links Junior Skills Challenge National Event, hosted by Golf Canada.

AGE CLASSIFICATIONS

The top ranked players nationally will be determined in each of the identified age classifications below:
  • Girls 8 and under 
  • Boys 8 and under 
  • Girls 9 to 11 
  • Boys 9 to 11 
  • Girls 12 to 14 
  • Boys 12 to 14 
  • Girls 15 to 18
  • Boys 15 to 18 

*the age classifications are based upon the participants' age as of August 30th, 2020

**All ties are calculated using an automatic formula built into the National Leaderboard. Ranking is therefore first determined by total score, then eliminating driving and then chipping.

TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATIONS

Please note that each participant is responsible for booking their own travel and accommodations. A travel subsidy of up to $500 will be provided for each participant. Participants will be asked to submit an expense report and receipts to receive this subsidy.

LOCAL RULES

Participants are welcome to use their own golf ball during the competition.

DRESS CODE

Future Links is proud to partner with Cobra-Puma Golf to provide PUMA uniforms to all participants for the Junior Skills Challenge National Event!

CODE OF CONDUCT

All Future Links participants are expected to abide by the Golf Canada Junior Code of Conduct. Violations of the Code of Conduct will be dealt with based on the severity of the misconduct. The Code of Conduct is available on the Golf Canada website (click here to view).

NO SHOW POLICY 

The National Event has a set number of qualifiers - it is important that registered and accepted individuals participate in the event. If you find you cannot compete in the event, you must officially withdraw by contacting Golf Canada at futurelinks@golfcanada.ca. This allows Golf Canada to replace participants with an alternate. If you cannot compete and do not officially withdraw, you may be subject to DISQUALIFICATION from future Golf Canada and provincial competitions.
