Future Links Field Trip Program

Program Purpose: 

The Future Links, driven by Acura Field Trip program is an initiative to transition Golf in Schools participants to Future Links, driven by Acura ‘active’ sites across Canada.  Golf in Schools is a program, offered by Golf Canada, to all Elementary and high schools in the country.  By registering for the program, schools are provided with the necessary resources (equipment, curriculum and training) which enables teachers to integrate golf into their ongoing, day to day teaching curriculum and meet the learning outcomes required by their respective Boards of Education. 

Program Objective:

One of the specific objectives of the Golf in Schools program is to create links between education communities and golf communities so that students have a greater understanding of where they can get access to regular youth golf programs.  It is our goal to ensure that all school children have a positive golf course experience (hence directing them to facilities engaged in the Future Links, driven by Acura Program) – and are aware of their next steps within their community with respect to golf.

The Future Links, driven by Acura Field Trip Grant

All active Future Links, driven by Acura facilities will be eligible to receive a $500 grant through this program.  The grant’s objective is to assist in off-setting costs involved in hosting a school at their facility (does not have to be the whole school – numbers dependant on programming availability). Programming delivered by the facility will be dependent on their capacity and capabilities and up to the facility to determine the best-case scenario.  Programming will range from a tour of the clubhouse and course to a putting lesson, to time on the driving range. 

New this year, an application deadline will be enacted: applications must be received by April 17th.  All applications will be reviewed at that time and applicants will be notified by April 24th as to how many grants they will be awarded.  Grants will be awarded based on demand and applicants will be placed on a waiting list depending on availability. They will be subsequently notified if/when a grant becomes available.

Field trips are to be completed by September 29th. This is to prevent grants going unused, well in advance of the October 31st fiscal year end date. Applicants are to notify Golf Canada prior to this date if they will not be using their grant or have plans to use it in October. If Golf Canada does not hear from the applicant and the date passes, grant will be forfeited and given to someone on the waiting list. If Golf Canada does not hear from the applicant and the September date passes, the grant will be forfeited and given to someone on the waiting list.

Grants will be issued to applicants once the field trip/visit has been completed and a report has been received by Golf Canada detailing the expenses incurred and the highlights of the day.
